CLC The Sunshine Room

The "Sunshine" Room

(Preparing for Kindergarten)
(4 years to 5 years)

Our 4–5 year old preschool program helps children become confident, independent, and enthusiastic learners while preparing them for the transition to kindergarten. Through engaging, hands-on experiences and purposeful play, children strengthen the academic, social, and life skills they need to succeed.

Children build early literacy skills through letter recognition, phonics, vocabulary, storytelling, name writing, and beginning reading and writing activities. In math, children explore counting, number recognition, patterns, shapes, measurement, sorting, and simple addition and subtraction concepts.

Our program places a strong focus on school readiness and independence. Children practice following multi-step directions, completing activities, problem-solving, making choices, caring for their belongings, and participating in classroom routines. They also develop social-emotional skills by learning cooperation, communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and how to confidently express their thoughts and feelings.

Through science, art, music, sensory exploration, dramatic play, and outdoor activities, children are encouraged to ask questions, think creatively, and discover how the world around them works. Most importantly, we help children develop a love of learning, confidence in themselves, and the skills they need to take their next big step into kindergarten!
